At 11 o'clock on October 31, 2017, the towel that is in direct contact with our skin every day is really clean enough. A towel lasted for a year and a half, which is normal for many people. However, the long-lasting towel not only hardens the comfort, but also breeds a lot of bacteria.
Half a year for towels, 10,000 times more bacteria
The China National Textile Association conducted simulation experiments on towels for more than 400 people in five cities including Beijing, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Xi'an and Binzhou, and carried out colony testing on 167 towels. The results showed that most towels contained bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, and Escherichia coli.
Staphylococcus aureus often causes localized purulent infections such as incisions and wounds, and can also cause systemic infections such as pneumonia, pseudomembranous colitis, pericarditis, and even sepsis;
E. coli can cause severe diarrhea and sepsis in infants;
Candida albicans may invade cells and cause disease when the body's immune function is low.
Peking University People's Hospital also conducted an experiment: a new towel, a towel for 3 months, and a towel for 6 months or more for bacterial culture.
It was found that, in terms of square centimeters, the new towel colony fell on the order of 100, and the three-month towel colony was on the order of 10,000. With the 6-month towel, the petri dish was almost full of colonies, estimated to be in one Millions of this order of magnitude.
Among them are bacteria that are positive for Gram staining, and bacteria that may cause disease such as Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
Your towel is so dirty
Towels become a place to hide dirt, mainly related to the towel's own structure and bad habits.
First of all, the main component of the towel is a tubular structure with a hollow cell that stores moisture, which is the most important condition for bacterial survival.
Secondly, the towels are often placed in a warm and humid bathroom, which is ventilated, poorly ventilated, and lacks direct sunlight, suitable for bacterial growth. Others like to wet the towel and provide a hotbed of bacteria.
Once again, the dirt, dust, dander, mites, sweat and other dirt on the human skin will accumulate on the towel. If it is not cleaned regularly, replaced, or even "indefinitely", it will cause the bacteria to multiply.
Finally, family members using a towel together, or using the same towel for washing, bathing, etc., can easily lead to cross-infection.
The above reasons lead to a large number of bacteria attached to the towel, especially for people with low immunity, the elderly and children, and towels are even one of the most dangerous vectors for infection.
The three principles of using towels
There are three main principles for using towels: one person is not shared, and different parts are used separately. Specifically, there are the following four details to be observed.
1, towel dry
Develop the habit of using towels and dry them in time.
2, one person a part
It is necessary to put an end to "multiple people a towel" and "one towel multi-purpose", especially adults and children can not share a towel.
3, regular replacement
It is necessary to eliminate the towel once in 3 months.
4, wash and diligently
Develop the habit of washing and diligently, and disinfect it regularly.
Two effective towel disinfection methods:
Neutral detergent disinfection keeps the softness of the towel.
High temperature disinfection. Boil in boiling water for 5 minutes or steam in a pressure cooker for 10 to 15 minutes, but it will affect the color fastness and strength of the towel. It is not recommended to use it frequently.
