The Fogg Museum of the Harvard Art Museum in the United States, an 18th-century Chinese Qing emerald incense burner that was stolen during the 1979 exhibition. After thirty-five years of swaying, it was returned to the original owner on Tuesday.
This six-and-a-half-inch, seven-inch-wide jade incense burner was donated by Harvard graduates and art collector Dai En and his wife in 1942. When the museum held a small collection exhibition donated by the Dane couple in 1979, they found that the jade furnace that was exhibited was missing. The police could not find its whereabouts for many years.
Until the 9th year, the Emerald incense burner reappeared and became the auction item of Sotheby's Hong Kong. The library immediately notified the law enforcement department. The auction house stated that it was provided by a private collector but did not provide documentation to prove its owner status. After the comparison, the auction house confirmed that it was the lost property of the year.
